Magnificent women's belt from Transylvania that was worn on festive occasions. Dating: ca. 1720. The rich traditional costumes of Transylvania are stylistically a mixture of German and Hungarian forms, the use of precious metals and glass stones are characteristic. This belt is made of velvet and brocade, with 11 round buchteln (or roses) set with Gothic leaves and red or green glass stones. The heavy baroque clasp with Augustan tendrils closes with a ring.
Very good condition for its age. One socket/rose missing.
