Antique Quilted Silk Handbag, England, ca. 1928 – Amphora Shape

This elegant quilted silk handbag, made in England, features a distinctive silhouette reminiscent of a softly rounded Greek amphora. The upper edge is finished with a beautifully pleated border, giving the bag a sculptural, refined appearance. Both the front and back display a carefully quilted floral motif with a central blossom and surrounding leaves, adding texture and decorative depth typical of early 20th‑century silk accessories.

The bag closes with a metal frame clasp, topped with a faux tortoiseshell fastener that enhances its vintage charm. The handle is made of matching silk, completing the harmonious design. Inside, the bag is lined with playful pink silk, a luxurious detail that contrasts beautifully with the warm brown exterior.
