This antique black rooster feather boa, made in England around 1928, is an exceptionally rare example of late‑1920s feather fashion. Crafted from glossy black rooster feathers, the boa displays the natural iridescence and movement that made such accessories highly desirable during the Jazz Age. Rooster feathers were especially valued for their lightness, flexibility, and dramatic shine, giving the wearer a subtly seductive aura that aligned perfectly with the liberated spirit of 1920s eveningwear.

Feather boas were iconic accessories of the decade, worn draped around the shoulders or allowed to trail loosely for maximum visual effect. While ostrich and marabou were common, rooster feather boas were far less frequently produced, making surviving examples particularly scarce today. Their sleek texture and rhythmic movement enhanced the erotic appeal of the modern woman, especially in dance halls, cabarets, and fashionable soirées.

This boa is preserved in very good condition, with the feathers retaining their structure and sheen—remarkable given the fragility of feather accessories and the fact that many pieces from this era have not survived. As a genuine 1920s example, it represents both the craftsmanship and the bold stylistic experimentation of the period.
