This elegant antique travel coat, dating to circa 1910, is a refined example of Edwardian outerwear worn by ladies of society during journeys by train, carriage, or the newly fashionable automobile. Known as a dustcoat, it was designed to protect delicate dresses from road dust while maintaining a stylish silhouette.
Crafted from fine white linen, the coat features a striped cotton collar and cuffs, adding subtle contrast and texture. It closes with three mother-of-pearl buttons, a detail typical of early 20th-century tailoring. The coat remains in very good to excellent condition, with only a small hole/thread on the back, consistent with age. Please note: decorative elements such as the plastron and brooch are not included.
Measurements:
Bust: approx. 90 cm
Waist: approx. 87 cm
Length: approx. 120 cm
This rare Edwardian linen dustcoat is ideal for collectors of antique fashion, historical travel garments, or museum-quality women's outerwear, offering a graceful glimpse into the elegance of pre-war sartorial culture.
