This opulent Titanic‑era evening dress, dating to around 1912, is an exceptional survivor of early 20th‑century Edwardian fashion and comes with remarkable provenance from the Valentine Museum, America. Crafted as a one‑piece gown, it is made of shimmering silver lamé fabric, a luxurious material highly prized during the final years of the Belle Époque.

The implied bodice is constructed from delicate lace, overlaid with a fine layer of silk tulle, creating a soft, ethereal texture. A wide U‑shaped bust cut‑out and short lace sleeves frame the upper silhouette. The front of the dress is elegantly gathered, giving the garment its distinctive sculptural presence.

Two long tassels made of glass pins and rhinestones cascade from the front, adding movement and sparkle. Additional rhinestone buckles accent the waist at both the front and back. An asymmetrical train, attached at the waist with original hooks and eyelets, flows behind the wearer with dramatic effect. Beneath the lamé exterior lies a silk underskirt, completing the gown’s refined construction.

The dress is in good antique condition, with age‑appropriate signs of wear: minor holes in the silk tulle, subtle discoloration in the lamé fabric, one larger stain on the train, and some damage to the lining. These elements are consistent with garments of this period and do not diminish its historical or aesthetic value.

A rare opportunity to acquire a museum‑quality evening dress from the Titanic era, ideal for collectors of Edwardian clothing, antique couture, and historic textiles.
