This elegant antique pink silk dress, dating to around 1912 and bearing the Parisian label Thérèse Blanchet, is a refined example of early 20th‑century couture. Made from loosely woven wild silk, the fabric’s delicate texture conveys a sense of lightness and sophistication characteristic of the pre‑war Parisian aesthetic. As a one‑piece garment, it showcases balanced detailing and exceptional craftsmanship. Dresses of this type were famously favored by Cäcilie, the last German Crown Princess, and this piece strongly recalls her distinctive style.

The front slit is framed by pink buttons artfully set into black silk, forming a decorative triangular motif. Matching buttons on the shoulders create a harmonious symmetry. The subtly suggested sailor collar, edged with crocheted lace, and the high stand‑up collar of filigree lace elegantly accentuate the neckline.

The long chiffon sleeves, trimmed with delicate lace, add an airy yet refined touch. A wide silk belt cinches the waist, emphasizing the feminine silhouette. Mother‑of‑pearl buttons on the chest and sleeve cuffs introduce shimmering accents that enhance the dress’s luxurious appearance.

The back fastening consists of fine hooks and eyelets, carefully crafted for comfort and durability. Particularly striking is the small pleated train, which creates graceful movement when walking. Despite its age, the dress remains in good condition, with subtle signs of wear that underscore its authenticity. The tulle in the sleeves and inside the collar is torn, and the silk underskirt is delicate, consistent with garments of this period.

This dress is not only a testament to early 20th‑century fashion artistry, but also an expression of the Parisian elegance embodied by designer Thérèse Blanchet. It invites deeper exploration into the cultural and artistic influences that shaped its creation.

Jewellery and the photograph of the Crown Princess are not included.
