This elegant Edwardian tea dress, dating to around 1908 and originating from England, represents the refined yet relaxed style worn by women during afternoon tea or informal social gatherings at home. Tea dresses of this period were considered a true luxury, as their looser fit allowed them to be worn without a stiff corset - a rare comfort in the Edwardian era.

This example is crafted from exquisite Maltese lace, known in Malta as bizzilla. Maltese lace is an intricate form of bobbin‑made guipure lace, worked without a net ground and admired for its elaborate patterns and airy structure. The dress is finished with a green belt, adding a soft touch of color to the delicate lacework.

Designed to be worn with an underdress, the garment closes at the back, while the buttons at the front serve a purely decorative function, typical of early 20th‑century dressmaking. The piece survives in excellent condition, a testament to its quality and careful preservation. Jewelry shown in photographs is not included.

A rare and beautifully crafted example of Edwardian domestic elegance, ideal for collectors of antique lace dresses, historic textiles, and museum‑quality garments.
