A tea dress from 1908, origin: England. Such a dress was an elegant but comfortable dress worn by women during afternoon tea or for informal social occasions at home. These dresses were often made of light lace, silk or chiffon and had a loose fit that allowed them to be worn without a stiff corset - a real luxury in the Edwardian era!
This dress is made from Maltese lace and finished with a green belt. Maltese lace (bizzilla in Maltese) is an elaborate bobbin lace that originated in Malta. It is a type of guipure lace, which means that it is worked without a net base. This dress was worn with an underdress. It closes at the back. The buttons at the front have a decorative function. In excellent condition. The jewelry is not included.
