Antique Rococo Silk Wallet or Billfold, ca. 1780

This charming Rococo wallet, dating to around 1780 and originating from England, is a beautifully preserved example of 18th‑century personal accessories. Made of light‑colored silk, the wallet is richly embroidered on both the front and back with an elegant floral motif and a delicate vine pattern, showcasing the refined needlework typical of the late Georgian period.

The interior contains compartments for letters, reflecting the practical yet decorative nature of such wallets in the 18th century. It closes with a binding cord and button, both original to the piece. The wallet survives in very good condition, with only subtle wear to the silk -remarkable for an object of this age.
