Antique Rococo Silk Wallet, ca. 1797

This delicate small Rococo wallet, dating to around 1797, is crafted from elegant blue silk and represents a rare surviving example of late 18th‑century personal accessories. The wallet was likely fastened with a pink silk ribbon wrapped around the body—today only small remnants of the original ribbon remain, offering a glimpse into its former decorative charm.

The edges are bordered with yellow fabric, creating a striking contrast with the blue silk. A small piece is missing on the back, and the wallet shows subtle signs of age and wear, all consistent with its age. Inside, the piece is lined with light blue silk, a refined detail typical of Georgian craftsmanship.
