This unique bodice from a Rococo ensemble, dating to around 1765, originates from France. The bodice features long sleeves fastened with buttons, a back‑lacing closure, and entirely hand‑stitched construction, including the hand‑worked eyelet borders. A stomacher is suggested through the use of gold‑colored metallic lace from the period. Traditionally, women were often sewn into these gowns, but the delicate, youthful cut of this piece suggests it belonged to a young lady who may have been spared that practice. The bodice has a half‑round neckline and is lined with linen. Its condition is very good to excellent.

Condition notes: The sleeve cuff buttons are missing, the original lacing cord has been replaced, and there are a few open seams at the shoulders that can easily be re‑stitched.

A must‑have for any collection of 18th‑century antique clothing, Rococo fashion, or historical textiles.
