Powder Compact, England, ca. 1931

This compact depicts a little girl with a rattle, hood and a child's dress: Princess Margaret Rose of York. Roses can be seen in the background. This is probably an allusion to the princess's name. She is the younger sister of Queen Elizabeth II and daughter of King George VI. Princess Margaret was born on August 21, 1930, in Glamis Castle, United Kingdom. She is probably about a year old in the compact portrait. The compact is in very good condition. Small imperfections on the edge of the mirror. The compact appears to have never been used or to have been used very carefully. A rare collector's item. The decoration is not included.
