People mourned at all times and everywhere - including in the Württemberg royal family. This rare mourning hat was made in Stuttgart by Minna Stork. She had her hat store there at Poststr. 6, where Maria Immakulata von Württemberg probably purchased this hat. Maria was a sister-in-law of Marie-Valerie (a daughter of Empress Sisi/Elisabeth of Austria), a great-great-great-granddaughter of Emperor Leopold II of Austria and a great-great-great-granddaughter of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria. She was the wife of Duke Robert of Württemberg, a son of Duke Philipp of Württemberg and Maria Theresa of Austria. The hat and veil are made of crêpe silk,. In very good to excellent condition. The photograph of Maria is not part of the offer. A copy of the photograph can be supplied if you are interested. The example photograph at the end depicts Luise von Baden - she is wearing mourning clothes and a similar hat.

The Jewels of Maria Immaculata were auctioned for millions of euros November 2023 at Sotheby's in Geneva.

We acquired this mourning hat, together with other wonderful and rare pieces, from the estate of Dr. Alexander Eugen Duke of Württemberg (1933-2024).
