Underbust corset from the Edwardian period, ca. 1910. Stamped maker's mark on the inside: Ivy. Reference to a US patent.
At the beginning of the 20th century, burgeoning technology made numerous inventions and patents possible, not least the flexible metal hoop that replaced the whalebone in women's corsets. The Ivy corset is therefore a perfect corset for everyday wear. It tapers at the front and is longer at the front than at the back. It is perfect for concealing under clothing. Steel boning and underwiring, back lacing. Four original garters. Lace trim with silk ribbon. In good to very good condition. The silk rosette in the front area appears to be newer; one eyelet has been professionally restored; discreet stains; minor repairs. '
Corsets of this type have become rare, as they are coveted collector's items. We are pleased to be able to present one again. The decoration is not included.
