Day dress from the 1880s. Made from blue cotton fabric printed with a white floral motif. Red darts provide the color contrast. Front closure with buttons made from an organic material. The antique dress is a one-piece; only the top is lined on the inside with brown cotton. Original belt. Dresses of this type were worn by domestic servants. They had to be comfortable. A bustle would have been impractical. And: they had to be washable. As such dresses were usually worn on, they are very rare. This one has “survived” the decades.
