This antique corded cotton corset, dating to ca. 1825–1830, is a fine example of late Regency fashion and early 19th‑century corsetry. Made of sturdy white cotton, it features beautifully shaped bust sections and traditional bone eyelets, two of which are missing — a common age‑related detail in garments of this period. On the left shoulder, the name of the wearer is written in ink, adding a rare personal touch and valuable provenance.

Corsets of this era were typically corded, meaning that rows of cotton cords were stitched into the fabric to provide structure and gentle shaping. This technique was characteristic of transitional corsets between the high‑waisted Regency silhouette and the more defined hourglass forms of the 1830s. Such garments were often made in smaller sizes, intended for slender women, and were worn beneath lightweight dresses to create a smooth, elongated line — a hallmark of Regency dress aesthetics.
