Victorian Cape, ca. 1892

In 1892, an exquisite, cream-colored silk cape was produced, which captivates with its filigree floral motifs on a satin-like background. This remarkable piece is further enhanced by a trim of luxurious cashmere goatskin, adding to the overall impression of elegance and sophistication.

The silk jacket features an adjustable collar, which is both practical and stylish. The back of the garment features a double box pleat, which not only serves as a design element, but also allows for generous freedom of movement. This double box pleat features an intricately embroidered silk appliqué with a detailed floral motif, making the garment a true work of art. The inner lining of the jacket is made from pink patterned silk, creating a harmonious and luxurious contrast. 

Despite its age, the silk jacket only shows slight signs of wear. Slight stains are visible. The collar lining is slightly torn, but this does not significantly affect the overall impression. There are also some signs of wear, but these can be considered normal for a garment of this age.
