Folding spectacles (also lorgnon, lorgnette), in the beautiful design of Louis Philippe, around 1860. The surfaces are covered with tortoiseshell on both sides. Country of manufacture: Probably France. The glasses pop out of the case when the lever is pressed. The glasses themselves are made of silver (hallmarks present) and gilded. On one side there is a small gold plate that could be engraved with a monogram. Very beautiful and elaborate work! The folding glasses were worn on a chain. In good condition. The folding mechanism only works manually, i.e. you have to help it along. One of the tiny rivets is missing. A very nice decorative piece.

Measures (closed): ~ 9 x 2.5 cm
Wide (when open): ~ 12 cm
