Antique Gloves

In the Victorian and Edwardian eras, gloves were essential symbols of elegance, modesty, and social standing. Worn by both men and women, they completed every outfit - day or evening - and were rarely removed in public. Women favored fine kid leather, silk, or lace gloves, often adorned with embroidery or buttons, with lengths varying from wrist to elbow depending on the occasion. Beyond fashion, gloves also served hygienic and symbolic purposes, shielding the hands and signaling refinement in a world governed by etiquette.
