The Japanese bag, which probably dates from the early 1920s, is a fascinating testimony to the craftsmanship and cultural exchange of the time. This bag was specially made for the European market and is characterized by several remarkable details.

One of the outstanding features of the bag is the decorative handle. The handle is ornately decorated with two elephants, two pagodas and two human figures, which are masterfully designed. The stylized clasp button, also in the shape of a human, complements the artistic design and gives the bag a unique touch.

The material of the bag is Bakelite, an early plastic that was widely used in the 1920s.

The original silk lining of the bag is missing. However, the existing linen lining still offers a glimpse of the bag's original structure and comfort. The inside of the bag is lined with silk. A small inner pocket with a mirror is another interesting detail. It shows that the bag was not only a fashion accessory, but also fulfilled practical functions that were useful for the style-conscious person of the time.

The dimensions of the bag are approximately 20 x 20 cm, which made it a handy and practical companion for various occasions. This size was ideal for storing personal items such as cosmetics, money and other small utensils.
