This original antique lace evening headdress, dating to 1876, is a beautifully preserved example of 19th-century American fashion accessories. The piece comes from the Lougee estate in Limerick, Maine and includes its original storage box, labeled Universal Exhibition, Philadelphia, 1876 - a rare and historically significant detail that adds provenance and charm.

The black and white lace cap features a delicate white silk chiffon appliqué at the front and is lined with crocheted fabric on the inside, showcasing the fine craftsmanship typical of Victorian evening wear. The lace remains in very good condition, retaining its structure and elegance despite its age.

The original box shows scattered age discoloration, and the top will need to be re-glued, but it still serves as a valuable part of the ensemble’s history.

This rare 1876 lace headdress and box set is ideal for collectors of Victorian fashion, antique millinery, or Universal Exhibition memorabilia.
