This rare two‑piece antique society dress, dating to ca. 1901, was created by the American fashion house Macheret, New York & Paris and represents an exquisite example of early Edwardian couture. Crafted from cream silk crepe and yellow lace, the gown features a richly decorated bodice and skirt, both adorned with lavish lace appliqués. On the skirt, the lace is inset into the silk like delicate intarsia work, giving the ensemble an elegant and graceful appearance.

The s‑curve silhouette is typical of the period. The bodice closes at the front with numerous hooks and eyes, and is fitted with a stand collar, long sleeves, and silk cuffs embellished with tiny tulle rosettes. Inside the sleeves are softly pleated tulle undersleeves, adding refinement and structure. The sweeping skirt extends into a small train and is underlined in cream silk taffeta, closing at the center back with hooks and eyes.

The exterior of the dress is in very good condition, while the interior silk lining—especially in the bodice—shows shattering, a common issue in garments of this era. There are two small light‑pink stains. The decorative accessories shown in photos, including the belt, are not included.

Combining high‑quality materials, elegant Edwardian design, and the prestige of the Macheret label, this ensemble is an outstanding piece for collectors of antique gowns, Edwardian fashion, and turn‑of‑the‑century couture.
