From our cherished private collection, we are now offering a rare treasure: an antique straw hat crafted by the distinguished court purveyor C.W. Borchert. For many years, these refined creations have accompanied us – quietly preserving the elegance of a bygone era, when true craftsmanship met imperial grace.
The hat bears the legacy of Borchert’s esteemed atelier, once nestled on Friedrichstraße 157 in Berlin – listed proudly among the purveyors to the court of King and Emperor Wilhelm II. The presence of his elusive label, a mark so seldom encountered today, elevates this piece to a realm of historical enchantment.
Now, as custodians of its story, we feel it is time to part ways and entrust this heirloom to new hands. May it continue to whisper of salons and summer strolls beneath the grandeur of empire.
Tot he hat:
A symphony of craftsmanship and opulence, this antique straw hat embodies the grandeur of a bygone age - where every accessory whispered of artistry and intention. Its wide brim, gently curved to frame the face in light and shadow, is adorned with intricate golden embroidery that traces arabesques and floral motifs in radiant thread, as if touched by sunlight.
Tiny golden beads glimmer across the lacework, adding depth and texture to the luminous design. At the crown, a lavish appliqué blooms like a regal flower - woven from metallic lace and shimmering accents - lending the piece a sense of ceremony and splendor.
Worn perhaps to garden parties, afternoon operas, or elegant promenades, the hat speaks of refinement and celebration. It is more than headwear - it is sculpture in straw and gold, and a testament to the timeless dance between fashion and fantasy.
