Wedding Bonnet, ca. 1860

The wedding hood from the crinoline period, around 1860, is an exquisite example of the fashion and style of this age. With its elaborate embroidery, which is particularly noticeable on the shoulder blade, it demonstrates the craftsmanship and richness of detail characteristic of this era.

The hood is adorned with elegant tassels, giving it a decorative yet classic touch. Two silk chin straps ensure a secure fit and help to make this historical headgear more comfortable to wear. The inside of the cap is lined with silk, which not only provides additional comfort but also a luxurious feel. Despite its age, the hood is in very good condition. The silk lining on the inside only shows slight signs of wear, which is remarkable considering its age. However, these minimal signs of wear do not detract from the beauty and historical value of the hood.
