An elegant pink silk dress, ca. 1912, Parisian label: Therese Blanchet. The dress is made of loosely woven wild silk, whose delicate structure conveys a touch of lightness and sophistication. It is a one-piece that impresses with its balanced details and masterful craftsmanship. The last German crown princess, Cäcilie of Prussia, was very fond of wearing dresses of this type. This dress reminds us very much of her.

The front slit is trimmed with pink buttons that have been artfully worked into the black silk to form a decorative triangle. The buttons, which also adorn the shoulders, lend the dress a harmonious symmetry. The sailor collar, subtly indicated by crocheted lace, and the high stand-up collar, which is also made of filigree lace and elegantly accentuates the neck, are particularly striking.

The long sleeves are made of light chiffon and decorated with delicate lace, giving the dress an airy yet elegant touch. A wide silk belt cinches the waist and emphasizes the feminine silhouette. The mother-of-pearl buttons in the chest area and on the sleeve cuffs create shiny accents that underline the luxurious appearance of the dress.

The back fastening consists of fine hooks and eyelets, which are carefully crafted and make it more comfortable to wear. Particularly noteworthy is the small train, which is artfully pleated and creates a graceful movement when walking.Despite its age, the dress is in good  condition, with subtle signs of age and wear that emphasize its authenticity and history. The tulle in the sleeves and on the inside of the collar is torn. The silk underskirt is “delicate”.

This piece is not only a testament to the art of fashion in the early 20th century, but also an expression of the Parisian taste and elegance that Therese Blanchet embodied as a designer. It invites us to further explore the history behind its design and manufacture in order to better understand the cultural and artistic trends of the era.

Jewellery and photo of the crown princess are not included.
