This charming antique children’s dress from Germany, dating to ca. 1910–1911, comes with rare provenance. It was worn by a young boy named Heinrich, born on 7 August 1909. In the early 20th century, girls and boys were dressed alike until a certain age, and it was entirely common for boys to wear little dresses as part of everyday children’s clothing.

The dress is made of red cotton fabric, a practical yet cheerful material often used for children’s garments. It features a nice lace collar, adding a decorative touch to an otherwise simple silhouette. A small inside pocket is stitched into the lining — a detail frequently found in early 20th‑century German children’s wear. The back closes with buttons, and the dress has half‑length sleeves, typical for everyday clothing of the period.

The dress is in cleaned condition. It was washed long ago and then stored away, which helped preserve its colour and structure. As a documented garment with provenance, it represents a rare and authentic example of Edwardian children’s fashion and offers insight into how young boys and girls were dressed in the years before World War I.
